This year, the event is centred around the film, Manthan. Possibly the only film ever to be sponsored by Indian farmers, Manthan follows the progress of a team who set out to start a milk co-op in rural Gujarat. Led by a veterinary surgeon (a character based on the now famous Dr Kurian), the milk co-op workers soon find their path blocked both by greedy middlemen intent on exploiting the villagers.

    leaf She is one of the most active and vocal volunteers working in the area of violence against women and children since 1999. She has focussed on the various rights of women at the work place. She has been fighting numerous cases of sexual harassment and other acts of injustice towards women in the work place. As more women move out of their homes to work, her contribution and work becomes a great service to them. She is also an external consultant to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for an assignment on Sexual Harassment at the Workplace and is also working on research, documentation and casework on socio-legal aspects of violence against women.
