Come January 30th, 2010 and we will witness the third edition of India Lies in You. The event was conceptualized as a melting pot for ideas and suggestions to empower every Indian to work for the upliftment of India. The format, unique in every aspect, centres around a movie and the underlying theme of that movie.

This year, the event is centred around the film, Manthan. Possibly the only film ever to be sponsored by Indian farmers, Manthan follows the progress of a team who set out to start a milk co-op in rural Gujarat. Led by a veterinary surgeon (a character based on the now famous Dr Kurian), the milk co-op workers soon find their path blocked both by greedy middlemen intent on exploiting the villagers.

Now in its third edition, India Lies in You is a celebration of individual achievements as also an appreciation of what an individual can achieve for the upliftment of the society to which he or she belongs. It is an acknowledgement of the fact that Indians can only move ahead together, not by leaving one behind. We are intrinsically linked to the society we belong to, to its progress or decay. Truly every one of us is a part of every one else.
As we applaud the efforts of thousands of individuals who help make India a better place for its people, we request your presence as we cherish these works of selflessness. India Lies in You will be held on the 30th of January, 2010 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Goa, and will be marked by a series of events.
The day begins with a social business entrepreneurship plan presented by various participants. The primary focus of the business plan will be its benefit to society. We will then screen the movie Manthan, a movie loosely based on the Amul co-operative movement, one that highlights our theme and emphasizes the role an individual can play in bringing about change. We have also planned a dance competition, a poster competition and a community video competition, all of which will revolve around our theme for the day. The proceedings will culminate with a panel discussion around the theme of "India Lies in You", the participants drawn from various walks of life and all achievers in their own right. All the events that day will be centered on the theme for this year's edition: Is what is good for the society good for the self?
